We spoke with BODHI Spa Trainer and expert therapist, Asha King, about what we can do to RESET our wellbeing, as we embrace the New Year – holistically and naturally of course!
Why consider a Wellbeing Reset?
If you’re feeling fatigued or sluggish, experiencing brain fog, having digestive issues or seeing increased skin issues/breakouts or redness, these are all signs that your body is in need of a Reset. This may take the form of detoxification, infrared sauna, exercise, massage, and making more time for deep rest, as well as meditation, journaling, time in nature.
What are the benefits of a Wellbeing Reset?
There are a lot of benefits of a Reset, for example, a focus on detoxification, quality rest, improved diet, hydration will all help to:
- Increase energy and vitality.
- Improve mood.
- Improve circulation.
- Reduce inflammation in the body and joints.
- Re-energise body and mind.
- Improve body functioning at optimal health.
- Improve immune system.
How often should you do a Wellbeing Reset?
There’s no right or wrong answer, however, I believe the best indicator is to go by your body and how it is feeling. A change with each season is a good option, and post-holiday season is great too, as we all tend to overindulge at that time.
What are your TIPs for a Wellbeing Reset, and building this focus into your day-to day life?
We’re all busy, so the key to a Reset is to be prepared and to find rituals that benefit mind, body and soul, that also fit in to your daily routine.
A great way to detox internally for example, is using Beauty Chef Cleanse Inner Beauty Essential. Just add to your favourite fruit smoothie, açai bowl or even a glass of water. We recommend every day for two weeks.
It acts like an exfoliant for the stomach and helps to rid the body of any toxin build up, delivers nutrients and also helps to balance the microbiome in the stomach via a plethora of pre and probiotics incorporated into the powder. It’s a multi-tasking Reset essential in a jar!
You can bring detox into your daily skincare routine too, using a Gua Sha for facial massage. Add it into your morning or night-time routine, it only has to be for 5 minutes! The Gua Sha helps to promote lymphatic drainage, reducing puffiness, increasing blood circulation, improving product absorption and also cools and calms the skin. We love the Zove Rose Quartz Gua Sha, available in all BODHI Spas.
Other things that will help Reset your body are eliminating inflammatory foods from your diet such as sugars, alcohol, gluten, and keeping hydrated! Aim to drink at least 2.5 litres of water a day.
I also take a GLOWSO Skin Health Formula daily, naturopath-formulated here in Perth by Natalie McGrath, it transforms your skin from the inside out. It combines sustainably sourced bioactive collagen, Kakadu Plum, Marigold Extracts, Vitamin B7, Vitamin E and Zinc, and is a powerful antioxidant, that reduces free radicals from the body and cells. It also supports collagen health and formation, to improve skin, hair and nail growth.
What BODHI Spa therapies would you recommend to help Reset body, mind and soul?
BODHI offers an array of spa therapies to kick-start your Wellbeing Reset, and keep you on track.
Infrared Sauna is a must! It activates deep core warmth at a cellular level to induce sweating, skin rejuvenation, detoxification, muscular recovery and reduce inflammation. Using naturally occurring infrared rays, it detoxifies the body of accumulated toxins and heavy metals. Improves skin tone and helps to treat cellulite whilst deeply relaxing mind and body.
Pair this with a Lymphatic Drainage Massage. Our cardio vascular system has a heart that pumps blood around our bodies, yet with our lymphatic system the only thing that circulates the lymph is muscle contraction and movement. We can almost think of our lymphatic system like a river – when it is flowing it is clear, healthy and oxygenated. When it is still it becomes stagnated, sluggish and full of toxins.
The beautiful BODHI Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a light to medium pressure massage, as lymph lies just below the surface of the skin. Light, rhythmic, circular strokes are used to promote the flow of lymph throughout your body whilst it also works to balance the body’s energy meridians. This deeply relaxing massage provides relief from fluid retention, stimulates circulation and detoxification, and provides an overall boost for the immune system.
